The Start Of My Journey….

Years ago, I got a call from my School teacher for joining the very school, where I completed my schooling. I had to decide if I wanted to become a teacher. I had thought of pursuing a career in interior decoration or fashion designing or art. Undoubtedly my destiny was somewhere else.

My mother,

who is my friend and a guide, encouraged me to go ahead with the interview. My sisters and father supported me for the same.

Finally after the interview, I got a chance to step into the lives of thousands of kids, as a teacher. The initial days of my career were quite joyful as I was taken by the innocence of children, their clean minds and selfless love. They too showered their love on me and made me forget everything else in their company.9

Apparently, I was still unsure if I wanted to pursue teaching as a career. Undoubtedly I needed to get proper training for this profession and had a decision to make whether I should continue my career as a teacher or no. I pursued my B Ed degree and became a proffesional teacher.

As days passed,

I started enjoying the company of the non judgemental angels. Not only they bestowed respect, care, love upon me but also lent an ear when I faced emotional roller coaster rides in life. They would listen, share their experiences and together we would have a beautiful time. Needless to say I loved to gel studies along with the discussions of daily life. Also I am proud that I was a pro in maintaining a perfect balance between the two. Trust me, kids love to hear the experiences and learn values rather than picking up the same morals from a book.

Finally, I made a decision to take up teaching as a full time career. I became a professionally trained teacher.

Little did I know, that a helping hand to my school teacher, would awaken the dormant qualities in me, to nurture, to care, to love, to share, to help, to guide….

Not only, I was able to live some moments of my life for others, with others, forgetting myself completely, but also I got a chance to shape the future of so many kids.

Here are the experiences of my journey of my teaching career with you all. As I said, a child is a tender sapling which needs the care of the gardeners of his life, parents and teachers.

As a teacher myself, I noticed, certain traits might help a teacher to improve herself.

📌Building trust

👉 When I am in front of my students, I am someone, who is trusted by the parents of each student😎

The ultimate reason why parents send their kids to school for long hours fearlessly, is not for imparting them education. But also its the faith they have in the teachers who handle the kids. The trust that the kid will be comfortable in absence of the parents comes from the strong belief that the teacher will cater to the needs of the student. Most of the time for which the student is in school, is spend with teachers. So its the foremost duty of a teacher to ensure that the kid does not miss the parents.

📌Imparting Joy

👉 A smile on the face of each one of them is equally important , as the process of teaching/ learning😊

A happy child learns better than the one who comes to school as a formality. Its a task for the teachers to bring a hearty smile on the faces who look up to them. A task, as the teacher may have personal or professional issues, which she have to put aside before facing these kids.

📌Being An Empath

👉 During the teaching process, even if completing my task on time is a priority, I also need to cater to the emotional requirement of the kids, as they are away from their home for quite a long duration in the school😊😊

There are times when a kid in the class room requires extra care or attention. Any matter might have happened back at the home or on the way to school. A teacher cannot overlook this and proceed with the teaching process. Empathizing with the kid is another difficult but necessary requirement in the class.

📌Patience

👉 Confronting those needs requires immense patience, as pressure of completing portion on time clashes with other duties at work that require attention too😢

📌Stability

👉 For maintaining a sufficient balance between personal and proffesional life, I need to be stable first😁

Stability is only possible if the teacher has a knack of maintaining a balance in between the personal and professional life. Training the mind to be calm in instigating situations also helps to strike a perfect balance and be stable at work place, and so in home too.

The values and qualities a teacher has shows the reflection of her soul. The above mentioned traits will certainly help in the same.
