Samiksha was busy preparing for the day in her shop Sam’s Cakes . . Crave For More. Her helpers Mallika and Charmie were looking after the customers, serving them with a smile.
“Samiksha, I think we need to hire one more staff”, Charmie told her in the kitchen area.
“Hmm. I agree. But let us wait for some more time. I want to expand a little more first.”
“Well, your business instincts are good and I do trust them. Let us get back to work. Oh ya, I hope you are not disappointed with Creative Appetit’s response?”
“Not at all. It was his outlook. Whatever. Can we work now?”
Samiksha barged
into the shop area, leaving a confused Charmie behind, as her actions did not match her words after all.
“We will be needing more of the chocolate craving cakes”, Mallika informed her, pointing towards the door.
“And that hinge needs a fix. Its screeching since yesterday.”
“Yes I noticed that, Let me check it.”
Samiksha came out and observed the hinge that needed a repair.
“Has the hinge too disappointed you? Or is it the door?”, a voice questioned her from behind.

An astonished Samiksha turned around to find a smiling Karan Khanna scrutinising her with his eyes grilling her, right there.
“Um, what are you doing here?”
“Why? Is there a prohibition for my entrance in this area?”, Karan answered, smile still lingering on his lips.
“Obviously not”, Samiksha brushed her hair back and looked in his intense eyes, her eyes did stop at his neat trimmed beard hairs for a second.
“So who got your approval that day? Or did everyone leave without one?”
“Surprisingly your second guess is right. No one was selected from the lot. You can say they are still under inspection.”
“Not me.”
“Pardon me.”
“I said, not me. I am out of it.”
Karan smiled at her stubborn nature, but somehow it didn’t annoy him. He wouldn’t have taken this from any other person.
“Hello, I have to work. You have not yet mentioned the purpose of your visit.”
Slowly
he removed a familiar ceramic dish from the small case he was carrying.
“I think you forgot to carry back your dish with you.”
“It was not needed to bring it back.”
“Its not a good practice Samiksha. Your shop is in its blooming phase. Do not take finances for granted. You should not give away your resource materials in charity, to anyone. Sorry for the free advice but I have always had high regard for hard working people like you.”
“Um, thanks for the concern. But you came here, just to return this?”
“You think so?”
Karan’s piercing gaze made Samiksha’s heart beat skip, at once.
“Well then I am taking it”, she tried to grab the ceramic dish from his hand but his firm grip on it prevented her from doing so.
“Samiksha
we need you inside”, Charmie opened the glass door and barged in the scene interrupting Samiksha and Karan’s moment.
As soon as she saw Karan, her mouth fell open.
“I mean, The Karan Khanna is here, in our shop? What a delight! Samiksha you must be kidding me. You didn’t invite him in yet? Sir you are here to visit our shop? I am your big fan. Your recipes, your style . . I just adore. And . . “
Samiksha’s sarcastic glance at her halted the essay of praises for Karan and she awkwardly fidgeted with her fingers.
“You are welcome to my shop”, Samiksha opened the door for Karan and paved the way for him. As he entered the shop, he noticed the minute detailing Samiksha had paid attention to in the development of the bakery shop.
“Impressive, I must say.”
“Though Samiksha was quite upset when you rejected her cake the other day . .”, Charmie was once again targeted by Samiksha’s angry gaze.
“Oh, was she? I found her very cool when she left that day”, Karan spoke eyeing Samiksha, enjoying her sweet gestures.
“I was cool.”
Samiksha fired back in a stubborn manner. The duo of Charmie and Mallika showed Karan their shop and he listened patiently to them. Samiksha stole a glance towards him, as he was seeing her shop.
“I must say Samiksha you have really worked hard to make your shop beautiful. Its look captures a visitor’s heart at first sight.”
“My mother has taught me all the beautification detailing I know. She stitches clothes. I have inherited her fighter spirit you can say.”
Samiksha stopped suddenly, realising she was so comfortable opening up to Karan.
“Um, would you like to have our special Chocolate Craving cake?”
“Some other time. I have to rush for a meeting”, Karan looked at the three ladies and said.
“I am sure it must be as tasty as your orange vanilla cake, you brought that day.”
Samiksha looked at him
wide eyed and forced a smile. Karan smiled back at her and then left.
In the evening, Samiksha was relaxing in her flat after a tiring day. Her phone rang and she smiled wide finding her mother’s name on it.
“Mommy, I am fine, day was nice, had my dinner, and . .”
“I know all of this. Tell me something I don’t know.”
“How you know I am fine though?”
“Because I am relaxed here. If my angel has a slightest problem, I come to know my darling.”
“I love you ma. By the way, I hope you have went to Doctor uncle Peter. You sneezed yesterday while on the phone.”
Her mother giggled before replying, “I am absolutely fine. Don’t worry about me at all. Concentrate on your work. I want to see your bakery flourish more my sweetheart.”
“Yes ma, its due to your blessings have I reached till here, and will go to further heights I promise. Take care ma. I am off to sleep now. Bye. Love you.”
On the other hand Karan was a bit restless in his huge bed. Something crossed his mind again and again. It was an innocent yet fiercely stubborn face. He was wondering, why was he unable to wipe her memory from his conscious mind. He was used to meeting girls, regarding his work. Few were in his circle itself. But no one had yet made such an impact on him as this girl. Her straightforward, true heart had a certain charm, which would melt iron. She is certainly someone special.
Samiksha.
