A thought crossed the mind of the Creator,
He personified loyalty with four legs and selfless nature.
Looking upon His beautiful creation,
The Almighty said “I will wait for you right here,
Take a tour of the earth and come,
From humans there, you will receive a warm welcome.”
“Yes”, replied the four-legged.
“Please endow me with a name”, he said.
The Creator replied ‘dog‘.
No one can beat you at honesty,
The synonym for your name will be, loyalty.”
Wagging his tail happily,
He started the tour of earth merrily.
On earth, he met a human and his family.
At once the dog thought,
In heaven, the Creator is my Father,
So is this human my caretaker?
The humans welcomed the dog.
Entertained and amused themselves,
By his love and sweet nature.
The dog was happy and content,
Unaware of his uncertain future.
The man called his parents once.
“Please leave as I am done with you.
Circumstances are not the same anymore.
Find yourself a shelter, as expenses of your medicines,
Henceforth I am unable to endure.”
Without a complaint, the parents left sad and quiet.
The dog sat near grandpa’s chair.
Missed him with a gloomy heart,
And also loving grandma’s care.
A thought crossed his pure mind.
Not the elderly,
But it is the blessings and wisdom which departed,
Leaving the miserable, unfortunate house behind.
Another blow was on the way.
The child in the house was sick and miserable.
He was lying helpless on the bed,
The dog looked at him, sad and vulnerable.
The doctor checked the child and spoke,
Not much to worry about as such.
Do not let the dog stay near the child much.
He is a stray and, might cause more sickness,
Get rid of him with utter quickness.
The dog was at once sent away,
Without a thought, by the family.
May your pain and griefs come to me,
Thought the dog in his mind, inconsolably.
On the return to his Creator, he was asked,
“Why so soon? Didn’t you enjoy the company of humans?”
The dog replied, “Where parents are a burden too heavy to bear,
A dog stands nowhere nearby.
I am happy here My Lord.
Glad that my stay on earth was small, and not till eternity,
I now know why a dog’s synonym is ‘loyalty’.”
