The silence in the room was disturbing for all present there, Karan, his mother Sheela, Madhu and Samiksha. His grandma decided to go inside and rest, inspecting the tense atmosphere there. Karan sat next to Samiksha. Inspite of the current phase both were going through, the fact still prevailed. Karan and Samiksha loved each other unconditionally and truly.
“When did you fall in love with me Samiksha?”
“What sort of question is it?”
“Its a simple question. Please answer me.”
“I don’t know. I just fell in love with you.”
“How could you? you knew very well about our difference in our financial status, our distinct thinking. I mean our personalities are poles apart, I am calm, where as you are impulsive.”
“So you think a person falls in love considering the status and the behavioural traits? It just happened.
How can you expect me
to have given a control over these feelings?”
“Undoubtedly I would say, you got an all in one life partner in me. I was adored by all and that provided you an ensurance of a doted and responsible life partner. A doctor by profession meant security of income. Ultimately, I am the one who could tolerate your tantrums by his calm aura was surely a good catch by you Samiksha.”
“Just stop it Karan. How can you think of me in that way? Am I an opportunist? I fell in love with you for my personal benefits? Love happens without a reason or force. Its the most beautiful feeling in a human’s life, and you made me feel so low in a blink of eye. You hurt me Karan.”
“There you are.”
“What do you mean?”
“So you agree that a person doesn’t fall in love by plans?”
Samiksha stared blank at him.
“Samiksha if you can speak for yourself, justify your feelings, in order to prove your righteousness, Madhu didn’t even express herself with a word. How helpless she might have felt, when you accused her of being an opportunist. Her intentions were questioned by you whereas in all these years, all she thought was your well being. First she embraces you and offers her selfless love so that you don’t miss your mother. Secondly she buries the feelings she had deep in her heart so that you are not hurt. Thirdly she is happily willing to erase the symbol of her pure love, for the sake of your happiness. But what does she get in return?”
Samiksha’s brain was absorbing each word said by Karan, making her contemplate on her recent actions.
“The gift of your hatred for her. Your accusations, disrespect and doubting of her honesty towards you. It is enough for a person to break down or hate another bitterly. But at my dismay, Madhu did neither of this. She chose to leave, you, your life and her family. A family which she nurtured in these years. Her golden years of life were devoted and showered on you selflessly. And what did she receive? Hatred and shunning.”
Samiksha‘s soul reflected
on what Karan said. Unknowingly she started thinking of all the years she spent in the loving company of Madhu, her aunt whom she had welcomed in her life years before as her dear ‘mum’. She had bestowed this title to Madhu and showered her with selfless, unconditional love. Nonetheless Madhu had devoted herself to looking after Samiksha. Taking care of her smallest, silliest needs, making sure she doesn’t miss her mother for a single moment. She had taken Samiksha in her arms and embraced her every flaw, along with her qualities.
Relations are made in heaven. Humans are tied with a strong unbreakable bond, even though they are not blood related by the will of Almighty. Samiksha realised how blessed she was to receive this beautiful gift from God, and how foolish she was to shun it away. Her heart was heavy with the burden of guilt and her lips, speechless.
Finally she got up
and locking her eyes on the floor she left quietly from there.
Karan walked towards Madhu and covered her hand with his.
“Don’t worry. You are in your home. This son of yours will never leave your side and will endure everything to keep you happy and safe.” Madhu could not stop her tears and she looked at him with eyes full of love and endless blessings.
It was around 8 pm and there was a knock on Karan’s door. He opened it and after a few seconds a broad smile flashed on his lips. Samiksha stood there, all decked up along with Mahesh, who was equally well dressed. Samiksha had entwined her arm over her dad’s. She glowed with an unusual beauty which took Karan’s breath away. He was figuring out the reason behind their sudden arrival, that too in this manner.
“Please come in.”
Karan gave them way to enter and Sheela appeared along with grandma to see the guests.
“We are very happy to see you both here. Samiksha you look so pretty.”
Samiksha walked towards her, hugging her at once. Sheela was more than happy to see the old loving and kind Samiksha back. Karan approached Mahesh and spoke,
“Sir, I am really happy to see you here.”
Mahesh shook Karan’s hand with a smile. Samiksha slowly walked towards Karan. What she spoke next astonished him.
“Karan, we have come to take my mom home. Will you please send your second mother with me? I promise to take utmost care of her. Be with her till my last breath and make sure tears and sorrow break up with her, forever.”
Karan fell for Samiksha
yet one more time after the sweet words escaped her beautiful lips.
“Samiksha, what did you say just now?”
She flashed a broad smile before saying,
“Whatever you heard,” and she giggled as always.
Madhu appeared from inside to witness this beautiful unexpected sight. Samiksha ran into her arms and hugged her tight to wash away all the pain she had undergone in the past days. The atmosphere was charged with love by sweet union of the mother daughter. Pain, grievances were replaced by joy, smiles and bliss.
Mahesh stretched out his arms and Madhu happily went into the cosy embrace, forgetting the world. He comforted her and both were in tears of joy. Everyone around was filled with the same emotions of bliss.
“Let us go to our home. Please don’t leave me ever again.”
“Never,” said an overwhelmed Madhu and gestured Samiksha to join them. The trio were lost in a brief moment of sweet union.
“Well, I can send my mother only on one condition. You have to formally come and take her away as a bride. Do you accept my condition?”
“Happily, right dad?” Samiksha jumped out of joy.
“Yes of course, we will.”
“But I have one condition”,
Sheela said astonishing everyone in the room. All eyes were rested on her.
“We are not ready to come back empty handed.”
Mahesh and Madhu stared at one another.
“I am going to bring your beautiful daughter to my home with me, while coming back.”
Everyone in the room burst out into laughter.
“That would be the best gift I can give you Sheela,” Madhu said happily.
“In that case even I have one condition.” Karan announced to all present there.
Samiksha walked towards Karan and looked eye to eye, keeping both her hands on hips.
“Lets hear it.”
Karan kept his hands on her shoulders boldly and said,
“You have to teach me football.”
Samiksha giggled and hugged him tight forgetting everyone around them.
“With my heart. I love you so much my dearest doctor, my heart therapist.”
“I love you too my footballer.”
They kissed for a brief moment. Later the ladies in the family cooked a delicious dinner, with inputs of Karan and Mahesh too.
The family
enjoyed a sumptuous dinner accompanied with chats and laughter. Two couples were on the way of embarking their journey of a happy life, the biggest gift for the four of them being that, they had found one another.
No matter what we decide or plan, destiny is the ultimate player. When it plays its part, humans become toys in its hands and seemingly impossible things also happen, in the blink of an eye. With a bit of patience and perseverance, life gifts us with what our hearts have longed for, when we least expect it. So let us enjoy this journey with the virtue of patience and give chance to destiny to play its part. Nothing is mightier than, Destiny.
