Events in life do not occur as we wish. Madhu’s life turned upside down when her sister’s daughter hurt her, forgetting all her sacrifices. She had lost two persons in that night. One her daughter, second the love of her life. Karan had decided to set everything right for Madhu and Samiksha, but unfortunately things took a wrong turn. Mahesh was torn between the love he had for Madhu and his responsibility towards his daughter. Samiksha felt betrayed by the most important person in her life, her mum. Turning a blind eye to Madhu’s selfless love, Samiksha declared her as an opportunist and had her discarded, from life.
“Madhu, why are you out here?”
Karan’s words brought Madhu back into reality when she was lost in a whirlpool of thoughts and emotions. Karan sat next to her, trying to figure out the truth.
“What has happened Madhu? Please tell me.”
“Karan, I left my home.”
“What? Does Samiksha know about you and her dad?”
Karan’s question was to the point, knowing the current turmoil in her life.
“Yes.”
“And? Did she ask you to leave the house?”
“No. This was my decision.”
At once Karan stood up and made her get up slowly.
“I am so sorry I am questioning you here like this. Let us go home, You need to rest first. We can talk later.”
“But Karan, your family members? I mean how would they react?”
“I am a mirror image of my mom and grand mom. So definitely you need not worry about their reaction. Now let us go please.”
Karan carefully escorted Madhu to a cab and took her safely to his home.
Sheela welcomed Madhu
wholeheartedly and made her comfortable. Later after dinner, Madhu was first checked and then compelled by Karan to take some rest. He talked to the ladies of his home and explained the whole situation.
“I did not expect this from Samiksha. She is a bit immature but this was not the way to react or behave.”
“Ma, right now we need to let Madhu feel at home, so let us not talk about anything that will disturb her.”
Sheela agreed and then everyone went to sleep.
Back at Mahesh’s home, Samiksha was in her room weeping her eyes out, desperately in need of talking it out with Karan. But on the other hand she was ashamed of what her guardians had did, which in her eyes was unforgivable. She clutched her phone to her chest and closed her swollen eyes. Mahesh was in his room, contemplating over what had happened. He tried to call Madhu but her phone was switched off. Fighting with the disgust of not being able to support Madhu, Mahesh laid in his bed, helpless and lost.
Karan’s family
happily gave a warm welcome to Madhu. Not only as a new member, they took utmost care of her, but also keeping in mind the delicate condition she was in. Madhu was taken aback by the selfless love they showered on her. At the hospital, Karan was in his cabin when Samiksha dropped in. She went to him and hugged him, weeping into the collars of his white shirt. He slowly patted her head, making her sit on a chair.
“What is the matter?”
Samiksha wiped her eyes, got up and finally spoke.
“Karan the woman whom I loved so much, my mum, broke my trust yesterday.”
Karan chose to hear at the moment and gave her ear for the further story.

“I don’t know how to say this. My father loves her.”
“Who?”
“My mum.”
“Great. Um, is there anything wrong in it?”
“Karan? Are you seriously saying this? I am not joking. They love each other.”
“Neither am I making fun. I did not feel a tinge of anything wrong when you said this.”
Samiksha stared at him
and continued.
“Perhaps you don’t know the irony of this situation. They hid this from me since years. This was going on behind my back and I didn’t even know it.”
“What has frustrated you actually? The fact that they love each other, which is unethical according to you. Or the decision they took of not disclosing this to you, might be for some reason.”
Samikha gave a blank look to Karan.
“What is troubling you?”
“I am leaving Karan.”
Samiksha got up from her chair and tried to move towards the door. But Karan stood across her and confronted her.
“Don’t run away Samiksha. Answer my question.”
“If you cannot understand my condition, I will rather leave right now.”
“Perhaps I don’t. But you have still not given me the answer.”
“What they did is wrong.
They betrayed my mother. The woman stayed in my home, keeping relations with my father for years.”
“The woman? Who are you referring to Samiksha? The one who took you in her lap when your mother left you after her unfortunate, unexpected death?”
“She did all of this to acquire place in my father’s heart, and his home.”
“Say it. You are telling everything from your perspective. What you feel. It need not be the truth.”

Samiksha was not able to understand why Karan was not talking in her favour, and this irritated her further.
“Karan I think we should talk later. Perhaps you are supportive of what my father did. But I disagree to accept this relationship, now or in future.”
“Alright as you wish.” Karan found it unreasonable to say anything at all to Samiksha in her current state of mind.
Samiksha opened the door knob, when Karan called her. She turned back.
“I love you Samiksha. And that will never change what ever happens in our lives.”
Samiksha ran into his arms, hugging him tightly as if she wished him to absorb her gloomy ironies of life and free her from the despair.
After few moments, she freed herself from his cozy embrace and walked out of his cabin.
It was past a week
when Karan invited Samiksha to his home for his mom’s birthday. She and Karan had avoided talking about the matter deliberately, knowing the outcome of their conversation.
Samiksha came to his house and greeted Sheela, gifting her a beautiful saree.
“I loved it Samiksha. You have a beautiful choice. No doubt you chose my son.”
Samiksha giggled coyly and hugged Sheela.
Karan entered the room and smiled at both the ladies.
“Samiksha I want you to meet someone. She holds a very special place in my heart as well as in our family.”
“I would love to meet.”
Karan went inside and came out with Madhu, who was at the peak of joy as she saw Samiksha after many days.
Samiksha was shocked at the revelation. She ran out of words.
“What is she doing here?”
“Samiksha, where else she would have stayed? Answer me.”
“I don’t need to answer any of your questions. Thanks for everything Karan. Bye.”
Karan blocked her way.
“You cannot keep running Samiksha. Not today. Sit down.” Saying this he pointed towards the sofa. Being aware of Karan’s calm but determined nature, and also that he would not let her leave like last time, she sat on the sofa.
The story is beautifully written. Thank you for the entertainment. I enjoy reading it. Desperately waiting for the further story.
